pretty in pink!

today I feel like being "pretty in pink" or maybe more like "peppy in pink"!
I woke up and without even thinking about it I put on a pink belted tunic with skinny black pants. The color pink makes me happy and subconciously I think I needed something to cheer me up this morning. {And it's kind of working!} Maybe that's why I painted my room pink (well one wall actually) a few years ago.
So I found this adorable hot pink belt and thought of all the different outfits I would wear it with. It's a pink must-have.
Happy Tuesday!!

sand, sun, and fun

As my friend Marjorie pointed out yesterday, I've been "slacking" on my blog lately. Not intentionally, but because of a long awaited trip to Miami to celebrate for my friend Sarah's bachelorette party! We arrived on Thursday afternoon and were on the beach within minutes. We literally didn't even go up to our hotel rooms to check-in; but changed bathing suits in the lobby bathroom and went straight to the white sand and clear blue beach! There is something about a beach that is just so relaxing and I immediately slipped into "vacation mode". The feeling you get when you're in a new city and don't have a care in the world. The sights and sounds of Miami are like no other city I've ever been to. The constant scurry of tourists mixed with locals, the music coming from every restaurant and bar, the beach attire (including men in speedos), and the delicious food (even if you are harrassed by restaurants to eat it). The weekend was amazing and it was extremely hard to return to work on Monday knowing that I was no longer a block away from palm trees and sandy beaches! {Sigh}....

Happy Thursday!!

It's a lemonade kind of day

Since my friend Kristin is a major slacker on posting, I thought I would post for her...and I would like to rant about something that is very annoying to me.

I live in NYC a lot of things are annoying to me. Let me start...I love lemonade, as a child I had lemonade stands (but in my neighbor’s yard because they got more traffic). Let’s be honest, I grew up on a cul-de-sac.
I love to see kids out selling the cold delicious bev for approx 10 cents. It's adorb and in my nerdy-ness I like that these kids are learning the value of a dollar. I do however wonder if their parents are as annoying as mine and make them pay the parents back for the cups and "borrowing" the pitcher...now that it just LAME and I will not do that to my kids (but at this point in my life, I may never have kids...so I really shouldn’t stress about that yet).

So…all is well and I adore lemonade stands UNTIL I SEE THEM IN NYC. Ughhhh how annoying, get off the sidewalk, get out of my way and are they seriously selling a cup for 75 cents?!?! Listen parents, if you have kids in NYC good luck, but please please understand that their life will not be normal and they will NOT be able to sell lemonade on your yard. You have no yard, that sidewalk is MINE and I am trying to get somewhere and fast. Your child is in the way.

Not to mention, I know why you let your kid roam free and sell lemonade for 75 cents…it’s because you don’t care. You’re too busy shopping (and I would be too if I had your money). How do I know? Because it’s pretty obvious that the stark white babies don’t have a foreign mother and that’s the only supervision I see around. That said…your nannies hate NYC lemonade stands too!

Happy Weekend!

This weekend is one filled with wedding festivities and close friends!!
Weddings just make me so happy and I love everything about them! From the beautiful wedding gown, to the flowers and decorations, to the first dance. There is nothing that I don't love about a wedding. And on top of that, a couple of my best girlfriends are coming in town and I can't wait to see them. Could this weekend get any better, and it hasn't even started yet?!

Happy Weekend!

the New Pretty

Our fashion director at work is calling Spring 2011, the "new Pretty". And since she's the one with all the information and the envied one that gets to travel to Europe several times a year- I'll take her word for it. {Plus the name is super cute!}
I thought I'd share a few things from the trend board we worked on yesterday in our own office (yes, a lil arts & crafts project = cutting and pasting). Unfortunately I didn't have a camera to take a picture of it- so this will have to suffice.
Enjoy a glimpse into the "new Pretty"!!

Baskets and Shelves!

Organizing

I have a thing for baskets and shelves!! I love to have everything in it's place. So whether that place may be a seagrass basket, a photo box or just a shelf; I can't help myself when it comes anything to do with organizing. Most people despise what can sometimes be a tedious task- but I absolutely love it. And not only does it make everything feel neat and clean but it can add a nice touch to any room.

happy things!

After a fabulously relaxing weekend spent at the beach, I came back to pure craziness at work. I needed a minute to escape by thinking in corals and turquoise- colors that remind me of the
beach and summer. These are just a few happy things to hold me over until the weekend!!
